Have expectations? Using the right “Ignition keys” guarantees God is at the Steering Wheel

Are you expecting something to happen or a change to take place in your life, your circumstances or a situation ? The first thing to wait for or to listen out for is the Word of God

In creation when there was void, God said “Let there be” and there was.

The word of the LORD came to Elijah: 1And it came to pass [after] many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth. 2And Elijah went to shew himself unto Ahab…” (1 Kings 18:1).

The Word of God is the Word of truth, that affirms His will, it stirs up faith and creates an atmosphere of expectation to believe and wait on God for what He has promised.

The Word of the LORD came to Elijah as it is written in 1 Kings 18:1. In order for a change in our circumstances from “famine” to abundant “rain”‘of blessings or from chaos to order, let us use the following “ignition keys” that allow the Word of God to come to us daily:
– Bible reading and meditation, for He is faithful to give us personal (Rhema) words through the written word.
– prayer and praise while waiting to hear from God in our hearts for He delights to speak to us.

This way, we can guarantee that God is at work with and through us victoriously for He desires to be at the “Steering Wheel” of our Destiny path.

“One thing”, to keep the main thing, the main thing

The main thing

I have had in mind author Stephen Covey’s quote “The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing” because I have a pastor who quotes it quite often in the Christian context. In the Christian context, I would say that we must know that the main thing is to keep the central focus or “the main thing” of our Christian faith the main thing.

What is this “main thing” or central focus of our Christian faith? Our relationship with God and upon this foundation, our relationship with other Christians as well as non Christians and our God given commission to evangelise to that men would be saved.

As many know, David is one of my heroes and I will quote him when I say that keeping the “main thing” the main thing is only possible or comes naturally to us when we begin to desire the ONE THING. It is the state of our heart condition that determines whether we will activate or seek after God or keep the “main thing”, the main thing.

“One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of theLord, and to enquire in his temple.” (Psalm 27:4 KJV)

As I quote the above, I get this sense that in fact David was stating in his own words set to music the fact that we must seek first God’s kingdom; abide in Him (make Him the central focus of our lives), behold His beauty (the goodness of God in its entirety) and inquire of Him (ask Him things, to gain His wisdom, knowledge and understanding).

Living such a lifestyle we become like David, able to have God’s supernatural strength to overcome afflictions day after day. There is therefore an outflow of generosity, love and ability to forgive and embrace people regardless of their background or what they do to us easily and see things from God’s perspective.

Indeed David was someone whose life exemplified one who could do all things through God who strengthened him, likewise if we have the same conviction as David, through Christ, we are empowered or strengthened to be able to do all things (Phil 4:13).

You cannot give what you do not have, and as we are in the worst of times in terms of the works of the powers of darkness, may we stay in the place of pursuing God with more zeal as never before so that we are transformed and strengthened through His word and fellowship in the Spirit daily. Let us keep in mind that it is not only for our sake that we do this, but so that the fountain of living waters (Holy Spirit) within us will overflow into the lives of our families, friends, neighbourhood and even on national levels.

“The zeal of your house has consumed me” (Ps.69:9 NIV/John 2:17)

Without your zeal for God at whatever cost someone may never know God or receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, just think about that!

“And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” (Romans 10:14 NIV)

Brethren, may we take stock of our personal lives and honestly search our hearts asking “Have I made “the main thing, the main thing” this year and past years? It is not too late for us to repent if we need to and tell the Lord that we will change our ways, seek after him first, not what we want from him.

My Desire for His Things

To have all things
The Kingdom I first seek,
To do all things
Christ’s strength I entreat.

One Thing I desire
Is what I do seek
To abide in God
His beauty to behold
To enquire in His abode
His Word to savor
And rest in His favour.

One main thing I desire is
What I do seek
To heal the sick and
Strengthen the weak
To feed the hungry the Word of Truth
For the way of Father to take solid root.

Gotcha!! God’s unlikely helpers along your destiny path

Jesus-Helps
There are certain people God will keep in your life all of the time, others He will allow to come and go, and some will stay until such a time as the purpose for which God sent them is over.
God may allow difficult and offensive people in your life because through them, He plans to transform you by exposing sins, iniquities and weaknesses in you by His Spirit of conviction. This is a blessing because then you can acknowledge your sins in humility and He will fulfil his promise of cleansing you from all unrighteousness (1John 1:9) and prune you so that you bear more and lasting fruit (John 15).
God may have noticed that you have a “backpack” of filthy attitudes, unforgiveness, compromise in your Christian walk, hatred or lovelessness etc… that are weighing you down and preventing you from standing upright before Him and it is Mr or Mrs/Miss so and so through circumstance X that He has chosen to jolt you back to an upright position of righteousness to reinstate you on the path He has for you, or to ensure you fulfil your destiny!
Therefore Brethren, in your affliction at the hands of certain people, “LORD have mercy!” is the cry that is likely to penetrate from your lips of anguish and pain, but as God will not leave you nor forsake you when you go through affliction, you will soon be shouting “Hallelujah look what the LORD has done!” when you testify that what appeared as evil has been out worked by God for His good.
God will only smile and say “gotcha!!” for His love and faithfulness knows no bounds. He is a God of strategies who can use the most unlikely people, your enemies or offenders to bless you! Indeed God always has the last word in the lives of His children!
Looking at my life I thank Him that He does, do you?
You are blessed determine to stay blessed!

The Power & Timing of God’s ideas

“There is nothing more powerful than an idea whose time has come!”Victor Hugo

I see this quote as having more depth and meaning in a Christian context.
In the fullness of time God sent His son Jesus Christ.

This was God’s great and powerful idea at His perfect timing, to come to earth as the all powerful God in the person of Jesus Christ. This is how God took back His possession, Yes you and I !
A Man of War, Jehovah Gibbor through this idea came to fight a battle on our behalf and took us from the clutches of Satan by redeeming us from our sins.
How awesome,
How touching

Oh how loving is that !

Yes, God came as man in the flesh to reconcile the world back to Himself.

What a genius is our God, the greatest of all! His ideas are incomparable in greatest to those of humans, the created. Yes those He created!

God has many powerful ideas that manifest as plans for you and me attainable through Christ and in the fullness of time.
Yes, at different times during our life He brings them to fruition, they germinate from seed, emerge as stems with leaves, flowers and fruit ready for the picking and fragranced with heavenly scents that bring healing and restoration to us and those we encounter. God’s ideas are no small thing for they are simultaneously for individual, family, community, national and world transformation.
So you see God’s ideas are powerful and indeed exert unmatchable power when their time of unraveling comes!
He has multitudes for you. Are you seeking Him daily and fervently to know what they are ?
It is never too late to be a diligent seeker of His ideas. God is patient and a redeemer of time lost as other things. He is a God of second chances.
While you partner with Him to outwork His ideas for you, you manifest His powerful creativity and you declare Him as the all powerful God of all!
So what are you waiting for?
Have an exciting day of discovery and recovery of His powerful ideas for you, indeed the set time is now!

You are blessed, determine to stay blessed!

A Cycle of Preparation for Victory in Greater Battles

image

The difficulties you are going through on a daily basis in which God teaches you to be patient and gives you the natural and spiritual courage or strength, skills or gifts, know-how or strategies, I sum up as “Tools” which are necessary for you to overcome are extremely vital. This is because they manifest either within your nature (courage/strength) or as skills, know-how or strategies when greater afflictions or tribulations come your way.

These “Tools” may not necessarily be for use in your circumstances alone but to help others. We are always equipped by God not just for ourselves but others in mind, such is our God of deliverance and relationship who loves His people and works through them for each other’s sake.

David comes to mind in relation to the above. He had been trained by God to defend the lambs he kept from attack by the lions and bears and he was also able to kill them when they turned on him. Such skill and courage was acquired by David the youngest son, when he was ‘a nobody’ and inconspicuous. When God’s appointed time came for him to publicly display his skills and courage he was ready!

With courage David said to King Saul “32 Don’t worry about this Philistine,” David told Saul. “I’ll go fight him!” (1 Sam. 17:32 NLT).
Saul told David not to be ridiculous and that he was only a boy, while Goliath had been a man of war since his youth.

Goliath terrified the army of Israel because he was a giant and taunted them so that no one attempted to fight him individually, but David was ready for him. If as a boy he was able by God given strength and courage to fight off and kill lions and bears, he knew he would be able to kill Goliath. His age and lack of military training was not an obstacle for God in his great power who is Himself a man of war or Jehovah Gibbor, the LORD of the armies of heaven or Jehovah Sabaoth was the one at work through him. David had complete trust in God.

David said to Goliath before he killed him,”45 …You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies—the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 Today the LORD will conquer you, and I will kill you and cut off your head. And then I will give the dead bodies of your men to the birds and wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel! 47 And everyone assembled here will know that the LORD rescues his people, but not with sword and spear. This is the LORD’s battle, and he will give you to us!” (1Sam. 17:45-47 NLT).

Are you unknown to many or in a lowly state or looked upon as such? Whether yes or no, God is outworking great things in and through you (a change of heart, giving you the “Tools”) as in the case of David in preparation for greater confrontations with the enemy for your sake to fulfill your destiny and also for the sake of multitudes.

David understood this of God and so should we in whatever task we undertake even if it seems insurmountable “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” (Phil. 2:13 NLT).

When God’s appointed time comes, and He needs someone to be a “General” for a greater battle or to lead a specific high profile situation with the skills, strength and courage, you will always qualify. In fact God has predestined you for such tasks which is why He prepared you in the small things and also in hiddenness. Perhaps God has used you already mightily before men after preparing you in hiddenness or in small ways. I have a message for you which is that this is a cycle, as long as you see yourself in a position of preparedness consistently and obediently comply to God’s will, you will always be equipped with the “Tools” and so qualify to be used for greater and high profile God given tasks. What God will use you for will, as in the case of David, not only benefit multitudes and even preserve life but result in God given rewards.

“I pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe Him. This is the same power that rose Jesus from the dead…” (Eph.1:19-20 NLT).

I also pray that you will always remember that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Phil. 4:18). You are guaranteed victory in all you do and marked for greatness because you are a child of God.

You are blessed, determine to stay blessed!

The House that God Builds

The power of loving & pleasing God

image

We must all, not least those who minister in any capacity to believers in Christ, always have at the forefront of our minds that our worth is not based on whether people accept us or not, or what they say about us, it is in who God says we are.

We must remember that we live our lives to please God first and foremost because we love Him.

If that is your focus, then there is inevitably a ripple effect for you cannot genuinely love and so please God without desiring to and succeeding in loving and pleasing others. Loving God and pleasing Him means we obey His commands and live according to His Word.

We therefore commune with Jesus in this way for he is the Word and came to dwell among men in the flesh. He is still with us and within us today in the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus prayed for Father to send us.

Loving and pleasing God cultivates His nature within us and this is not surprising because we are created in His image and our redemption through Christ is meant to restore God’s nature within us because we are reconciled to Him.

The outflow of God’s divine nature is that which others see and this is how they know that we are indeed children of God. This is expressed in how we relate to one another and the world in general.

Loving and pleasing God because we love Him is the foundation upon which our outward expression of loving His world and creation is made manifest. When we love God because we have developed a lifestyle of intimacy with Him, we want to please Him and therefore we search the scriptures or take hold of all He has to say in relation to, not only how we must love and relate to others, but also what He has predestined we are to do on earth or our purpose and how we must fulfil our destinies.

How can the aforementioned point be expressed concisely? Upon the foundation of loving and pleasing God we are inevitably built as ones who are empowered to live lives that glorify him (one becomes a “light house” of God), this means our inward sanctification or holiness affects, influences and impacts our families, work colleagues and the world at large according to God’s perfect will.

We are effective Ambassadors as citizens of the Kingdom of God under the rule and government of God.

God’s children are individually a “house” that God builds to make a difference in each life on earth and His world in general.

You and I are the “house” that God builds daily and declares through us that “the seventh angel b “The world has now become the Kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign forever and ever.” (Rev. 11:15 NLT)

You are blessed, determine to stay blessed!

Prophetic encouragement: Life & Death are in your hands – Your “Tool Box”

Toolbox with tools. Skrewdriver, hammer, handsaw and wrench

Life and death are in your hands
A call to create and re-create that the world may be patterned according to the will of God.

He has given you the power, the free will to decide and be His labourer, one of His builders for a world that He has designed “those who know their God will be strong and do exploits”.

Do you know your God, do you seek Him? He says “if you seek me you will find me”. You have what it takes, God’s power to know Him more and so do more exploits!

It is time to open it, it is time to use it: what you ask? “Your tool box”
each one has a tool box upon which is etched his name.

Some are never open. Some are half used and some are discarded.

It is time to gather the tools, to make use of them. The time is short, the time is now, to use the tools as you have never done before.

Tools of capacity, skill and unique purposes that many will be saved, healed, taught and so learn to overcome.

Life and death are in your hands.

God Delights in our Love & Impartiality towards one another!

imageDo you live your life in such a way that you attempt to be conscious that you are manifesting Christlike behaviour? I would not say that I always do, but it is what I would like to do all the time so I am working on it: As a man thinks in his heart so is he (Prov 23:7), I therefore believe that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Impartiality and love towards one another is high on God’s list of things that pleases Him because He is a God of relationship.

In my bible reading one of the scriptures was Proverbs 14:20-21

“20 The poor are despised even by their neighbors, while the rich have many “friends.”
21 It is a sin to belittle one’s neighbor; blessed are those who help the poor.”
(Prov.14:20-21 NLT).

God is speaking to us about the type of person He blesses; one who does not despise the poor but rather helps them. A “poor neighbour” in this context is a person who may literally live next to someone or know that person who sees themselves as more superior than them because they are richer. The “superior” one despises them and does not want to associate with them simply because they are poor or less well off. This kind of “I am better than you because of my economic status” behaviour or attitude is not often deliberate or conscious, it is often inbred and rooted in upbringing or the tendency to conform to ungodly societal norms and reasoning.

It is however not the kind of attitude or reasoning befitting a member of the Kingdom of God or truly born again believers in Christ. We must not be conform to the world’s class distinctions or how to behave towards people who are different to us in anyway, be it economically, socially, racially or culturally.

The meaning of “despise” is to look down on or to loathe and the opposite of despise is love, cherish or appreciate. God requires us to love, cherish and appreciate our fellow human being whether they are Christians or not and regardless of their background.

In fact James expresses true religion as such “pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.” (James 1:27 NLT).

God does not only assess Christian character according to the degree of holiness in the traditional sense of the word i.e overcoming sinful acts like hatred, unforgiveness and sexual immorality, but also according to the way we treat one another, especially the less fortunate or more vulnerable and needy.

Jesus also said that whatever care is given to the needy (i.e feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty and caring for the sick) is as if it is done unto him. Those who do this are counted among his true disciples or “Sheep” (Mathew 25:31-46).

Indeed the manner in which we relate to one another that pleases God is defined as true godliness and reaps heavenly rewards and affirms our salvation.

When we demonstrate our love to the “poor neighbour” by affirming them as being significant and helping them, God blesses us (Prov.14:21). This is in actual fact obeying the two greatest commandments. It is our Love for God that compels us to love ourselves the way He loves us (we need to receive His love) and as a result we are able to express love or compassion towards others. This is what I call the cyclical or “domino effect” love bond of the New Covenant. When we are in Christ, we are expected to love as God loves for He is Love (1John 4:8).

May God help us to be perfected in His sacrificial and unconditional love so that we demonstrate it to our brethren and the unsaved!

The Apostle Paul said “There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Gal. 3:28 NLT).

It is clear that this verse refers to the Kingdom of God as having people of all races, backgrounds, nationalities, cultures, social/economic status and genders. What we must also realise is that it indirectly refers to the kind of mindset expected of this melange of God’s people.

Those who belong to Christ are ones with a Kingdom mindset and this mindset says “all these people within the Body of Christ are united with me and I with them through Christ and therefore in God’s eyes we are all of equal worth” and such a mindset is in agreement with the following statement “If I came into the Christian faith with prejudices in relation to certain races, culture, nationalities or “classes” of people, I must acknowledge and confess these sins and ask God for forgiveness.”

“9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.” (1 John 1:9 NLT)

It is worth noting that many people are wounded because of afflictions in interpersonal relationships or past family problems so that although in Christ, and desire to, (because we are one in God’s love) they fail to express the God kind of love to others.

We cannot love, forgive or overcome prejudices and learnt behaviour that causes us to mistreat others in our own strength. We must speak to God honestly about our weaknesses  and trust him. This is a sign of obedience and humility which pleases Him and results in His manifested presence (John 14:21,23/1 Peter 5:5).

God is able and willing to transform our lives by delivering us from mindsets and attitudes of the world and healing us physically, emotionally, mentally and psychologically. Isaiah 61:1-3 reminds us of God’s transforming power through Christ:

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.” (KJV).

Merciful Father,
we thank you for your everlasting love and faithfulness. We are grateful that you remind us of what is important to you as we walk out our Christian life day by day. We bring before you all our attitudes and actions towards our fellow human beings which do not glorify you and grieves your Holy Spirit and ask that you would forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Uproot from within us anything that causes us to act consciously and unconsciously in ways contrary to your will or commands, for our desire is to always obey and please you.

When we are weak you are strong and so we ask for your supernatural strength and enabling in all that we do so that we do not conform to the evil world systems and attitudes even when we relate to others.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

You are blessed, determine to stay blessed!
