Still praying for God’s love to fill my heart always, pray with me:
In my devotional time on the morning of 29th February 2016, having prayed for myself regarding the subject of love, I felt compelled to write this “Prayer for God’s Love to fill my heart”.
It is not being hard on oneself to pray such a prayer; on the contrary, it is a recognition that we often fall short of the God kind of Love required of us, as believers in Christ Jesus.
It is an honest prayer for transformation of heart; A desperate cry for a heart that not only says “I love” but one that is full of the genuine love of God within and demonstrates it. If I have the gift of prophecy and all the other gifts of the Spirit but I do not have the God kind of Love, one of the fruit of the Spirit, then I am only as “a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal” (1 Corinth 13:1) making a whole lot of unproductive noise!! The God kind of Love gives substance to my gifting and whatever I do for God.
Dear LORD,
Fill me with your kind of Love!
Love that is sacrificial, selfless and unconditional,
Love that nurtures as a mother does a child,
Love that neither determines man’s worth according to his race nor measures man according to what he has or does, nor where he is from or what he looks like and
Love that compels me to weep for the lost and pray for the sick so that they may be healed.
Father, I am desperate for your kind of Love!
Deliver me from the thrones of my soul where there may be hate or pride that I often do not see and cloth me with the majestic attire of your perfect Love for
“If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal” 2 If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. 3 If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing. (1 Corinthians 13:1-3).
Help me to remain seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus among the Kingdom of priests where the godly fruit of your Love grows in my heart daily, for your Word says
4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.8 Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever! (1 Corinthians 13:4-8).
In Jesus’ mighty Name I pray Amen.

The God kind of love:
“12 This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. 13 There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. (John 15:12-14 NLT)
“See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.2 Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. 3 And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure. (1 John 3:1-3 NLT)
