Exhortation: The Advance – Press On!

What is the vision? What is the goal for which you press on, for which you aspire? Has the Lord spoken something into your heart that you hope to achieve ? Is there a plan and a purpose of God you know about that has been revealed through a prophet?
I say press on!

Do not allow failures or situations of the past to hold you back or cause you to regress. Resist the voices of people who have caused you to doubt your ability to achieve anything from being amplified in your mind repetitively.

In the bible, James says

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7 KJV)

We can only resist the enemy by bible study and meditation. This is because we are strengthened and revived in believing that what is impossible for man to achieve is possible by God (Luke 18:27/Matt.19:26).
The Word of God is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our pathway (Psalm 119:105) and enables us to see the way forward clearly and gives us Elohim God’s wisdom in how to advance.

Christ Yeshua is wisdom personified and by his death, burial and resurrection, divine power from God hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness” (2 Peter 1:3 KJV). We are therefore able to press forward and advance into higher heights and deeper depths in God.

Brethren, let us have a steadfast resolve to press on as the Apostle Paul when he said

“…I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.”(Phil. 3:13-14KJV).

Have a blessed day in Him

Wisdom Speaks at Summer’s Berthing (Poem)

Whether the sky’s face is grey and its tear drops fall daily on the earth as though in remorse, Summer is on her berth and is here to stay her course.

It’s a season we judge not by her countenance whether bleak or gay. Her worth is vast and more precious than meets the eye so mortal man is not fast to judge.
Listen to Wisdom speak.

Wisdom proclaims her breaking forth is as the dawning of a new day; An era to arise and shine as the sun does beam it’s rays on a Summer’s day.

A time to wear a smile of contentment and be clad in the cloak of gladness sown in Spring from a tapestry of God’s victories in the Autumn of oppression and the Winter of discord.

Wisdom speaks of her as the season to reflect on God’s truths so as to deflect from falsehood, discard the unproductive and disregard the immotive.

By her, productive and active shall you be. Able to invest and harvest not in haste, but in God’s heartfelt rest.

Listen to Wisdom speak: “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest.”(1)

His speech of renewal at Summer’s berthing until she departs, is what Wisdom hears from Father in every season and sees Him doing for whatever reason.

Mended & Raised Up for God’s Glory

close-up-of-senior-man-carefully-mending-fishing-net-be9ted

I woke up one morning thinking “Jesus mends nets”. I remembered that Jesus called James and John at the time when they were with their father in their fishing boat mending their nets (Math.4:21).Jesus’ purpose was to “mend” their lives by making them his disciples so that they would in turn “mend” other people’s lives, by becoming fishers of men. He is continuing God the Father’s “Mending Nets” business today through the power of the Holy Spirit in all the earth and at work within born again believers.

What do “nets” symbolically mean here? Our capabilities, mindsets, attitudes and emotions that have been afflicted or tattered by the enemy, whether before we become Christians or even during our Christian walk. This could have been either at home, school, church or work.

Some of these afflictions are from childhood through to adulthood because of what people did to us, also how we responded as well as what we were taught which has influenced our way of thinking, attitudes and understanding. Jesus came to do what he saw the Father doing or what God gave him the authority to do. His “mending nets” business is clearly expressed and summarised in Isaiah 61:1-3:

“1The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me for the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. 2He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the LORD’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies. 3To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair.  In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory. “(NLT).

Such people, having been “mended” will be called in service as “menders” or rebuilders. As Jesus, their destinies are also expressed as follows: Isaiah 61:4:
4They will rebuild the ancient ruins, repairing cities destroyed long ago. They will revive them, though they have been deserted for many generations. (NLT).

Another scripture that comes to mind is Acts 10:38
“And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.” (NLT).

In addition to healing the sick, the “Good” is all that Father God told Jesus to do in order to “mend” lives such as teachings (i.e perfecting the Law of Moses, how to pray), deliverance of the demon possessed and spending time with society’s rejects so that they know they are loved and valued. Jesus’ “mending” (restoring or rebuilding) business as we know is necessary for us to be saved and then grow to maturity as children of God, thus capable of fulfilling our God given identities and destinies. We each have a part to play in the Body of Christ and the world at large. Some people have found their God given purpose in life, some are on the way to doing so and others don’t have a clue. There are also those who think they do one day, but then they are not sure the next day!

Whatever category you fall into, know that God is at work in you however it may feel like or appear, to take you to even greater depths in your relationship with Him than you are experiencing right now. I sense God wants you to know that as long as you stay in His Word through study and obedience daily, you will receive all that He has for you and will fulfil your God given purpose. He will abide with you as you abide with Him (John 14:21,23).

The heavenly portals of revelation knowledge, wisdom and understanding will be open to you because of your obedience and faithfulness. This is my encouragement to you as I do to myself, that you would live a life of worship, singing praises unto God in fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Pray fervently for all things at all times, always be determined to trust God giving thanks regardless of the circumstance and do all you can to live at peace with others, loving them as God loves you.

From experience, I know forgiveness is difficult, but if you are struggling be honest before God about the pain you have suffered and tell Him how you are finding it difficult to forgive but because you desire to obey His command that you forgive you choose to do so and ask for His supernatural power to enable this desire to be a reality. Nothing is impossible for our God,
Having “mended” us through salvation and raised us up, God is always on the look out for tears to our “nets”, the sooner we allow Him to mend then the better because the effective fulfilment of our mission is dependant on our wholeness.

My Heart, My God!

The chosen day of congregational worship is not what God will use to judge me but the condition of my heart. What I bring to God in terms of financial offering or good works that everyone sees is not as important to Him as the state or condition of my heart before him (Isa.1:10-17); I’m I obedient to His commands? Do I treat people as I would like to be treated?
If I engage in rituals which have pagan roots knowing full well this is the case then I am guilty of compromise, as the kings of Israel who knew they had the authority to remove the high places of idolatrous worship but did not while at the same time worshipping Yahweh, also as the person who knows it is called “stealing” when they engage in the act of taking pens or notebooks from their place of work even though they make excuses for doing so. John 8:32 states “you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free”. Complete freedom lies in honestly applying the truth that one knows so that one is set free. Likewise, we are told in scripture that “faith without works is dead” (James 2:14-26). You can say you have faith in God, but do your fruits or actions confirm that you do or is it just lip service?

As the Pharisees in the time of Jesus, if we want to be baptised and have the genuine title of a people of God then we have to produce fruit that shows we have repented. John the Baptist said to the Pharisees as they watched him baptizing:

8Produce fruit worthy of repentance. 9And do not presume to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. 10The ax lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. (Matthew 3:8-10 Berean Study Bible).

There is a saying that is expressed as follows “show me your friends and I will show you your character”. By our fruit people will know whether we are children of God or not (Matt.7:16). Do people you allow among your close circle of friends have the same belief systems as you? By this I mean do they live to please God, men or self? However strong you think you are, know that you are capable of being influenced one way or another by people, society and events around you and even more so by those close to you and whatever society or events they form alliances with.

Brethren, my message today is this “Let us beware and be aware of God’s key requirements and so guard our hearts “above all else, for it determines the course of your life.(Prov.4:23 NLT)””
