The Year Ahead with God

🙌🏾The Year Ahead with God

“As He was with Israel in ancient times, so He is with us”

As we reflect on the new year we have entered into, we are like the people of Israel at the border of their promised land who had no idea what lay ahead of them in the way of battles, challenges and even victories and blessings.

God graciously told Israel how they were to stay under His protection and guidance so as to receive all that He had for them on their journey. They were simply to obey His instruction to follow closely behind the Ark of the Covenant or Tabernacle which is God’s presence.

“And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it… that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore.” (Joshua 3:3-4 KJV)

Just as the presence of God advanced before Israel, through the wilderness and into the unknown promised land of Canaan so too His presence has gone ahead of us into the unknown “territories” of the New Year and will continue to do so beyond 2019 Individually the Lord is speaking to us, as He spoke to Joshua on a one on one;

“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest” (Joshua 1:9 KJV).

Jesus to whom we belong is also called Emmanuel (Matthew 1:23) “God with us”, he and God are one (John 10:30), we therefore have the same assurance as Joshua. However, as God gives grace to the humble, we should not take His presence for granted, rather our daily prayer should be

“Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day” (Psalm 25:4-5 KJV).

Knowing that obedience is key to our victory in the New Year, we should obey Jesus’ commandments so that God demonstrates His love to us by abiding with us (John 14:21-23).

As New Covenant believers, we are God’s “Tabernacle” where His presence abides, enabling us to bear long lasting fruit (John 15) to His glory. We will see our prayers answered as we abide in Him and He in us through Jesus (John 15:7, 16).

Furthermore, when we respond to the call to be Jesus’ intimate friends and so obey his command to abide in his love, love one another as he loves us, we receive revelation knowledge which is the key to fruitfulness.

If His presence is with us and in us in the power of the Holy Spirit, then we must believe that we are well able to know His will (1 Corinthians 2:9-13) and therefore the direction Father is taking us as we communicate with Him in worship, prayer and bible study throughout the year. This will guarantee we have a joy-filled year (John 15:12-17).

We must remember what awaits us in a life lived in God’s presence: “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” (Psalm 16:11 KJV)

Jesus, seated at the right hand of Father, as the Light of the World has gone ahead of us to overcome darkness (evil, deception) along our path (John 8:12, 32).

As Joshua and Caleb who spied the promised land and proclaimed by faith that Israel was “well able to conquer it..” and that God “will bring us into this land and give it to us” (Numbers 13:30;14:8), so too we must proclaim by faith even now at the beginning of this new year, that we are destined for victory ahead no matter what challenges or battles we encounter because

“…we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” (Romans 8:37).

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”(Proverbs 18:21KJV)

Our vocal declarations of God’s victorious acts and His words in Scripture as well as our testimonies of His goodness are powerful weapons against satanic deception and discouragement as we advance the new year. We therefore have to be careful what we confess this year. Remaining in the Word and in an attitude of worshipping Father through Jesus will help us maintain a sanctified mind-set and confession.

As God proved himself to be a faithful and true God and His words to Israel never return void (Isaiah 55:10-12), so He has been with us and plans to be in 2019 and beyond.

Have a very joyful 2019 in the LORD. You are blessed, determine to stay blessed in 2019.

His Promises, His Words

Sarah was promised a babe by God
in her old age but laughed in disbelief.
Without a promise uttered by God,
Hannah wept until she conceived,
much to her relief.
Promises in His Word God gives,
available for those ready to receive.

Prophetic Words, the Almighty gives,
even to the dismissive.
So be it barrenness in the womb
or in life’s pursuits, stand on
Yahweh’s Words of Truth and
He will never deny nor refuse.

God Brings Dreams to Pass

Up and down the land she walked, as a wanderer seeing naught and feeling lost, she sighed and cried “I have stalled ‘cause of the fog and drought”.
Even within, she felt barren and dry wanting to pray but too weak to try. Then came a light so bright before her face, but looking around she saw no one in that place.

Within her heart, she heard a voice say loud & clear “I am the Light of the World who loves you, my dear”. Then he placed a fountain in her heart and said “Out of you shall flow rivers of living water to quench your thirst, so you shall never falter”.

Then suddenly her heart became a well watered verdant land, from her mouth was a melodious waterfall, and her eyes were awash with God’s salve to never falter or fall.

The bright ray of the morning sun hit her face so hard she covered her eyes and exclaimed “my, what a dream so real!”

The dream spoke of God’s Light, His love and the River of Life, a picture of what is to come, a revelation of God’s delivering might and abundant promises day and night.

Now strengthened, newly enlightened, no more doubtful, newly hopeful, she knew that she could cope with every trial whatever the scope, for her heart was now full of hope, because of Him who said

“I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.(1)”

God’s Word

Your positive confessions of God’s Word goes a long way towards sustaining your focus on your God given vision because it changes your mindset;
The “I can’t” become “I can”

The “I won’t” became “I will…”

You will be empowered and so nothing will stop you from doing the good that you know to do (not even yourself – Romans 7)

Your impossibilities become possibilities for greater is He (Most High God) who is in you than he who is in the World.

I declare and decree a mindset change, a shift for you today and everyday of your life (if you are not already walking in it – more if you are!) so that you will be able to envisage and take hold of all God’s promises for you through His Word and prophetically spoken into your life.

Receive that which is yours ! – God’s divine empowerment and peace in the precious name of our one and only Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen!

Man & Woman of Faith, Though it May Tarry, Wait For It!

push-or-pull-vision

In likeness to Abraham of Old Testament times, you are a man or woman of faith who believes in a God you cannot see. In this new covenant era, you believe in God through Christ Jesus. You are not perfect by any means, but you have surrendered your life wholeheartedly to God at the altar of sacrifice; in the place of prayer and daily worship or devotion.

You live in obedience to Romans 12:1-2:
“1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. 2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (KJV).
Like Abraham, you have not just presented yourself to God wholeheartedly but everything you own and those you love, your “Isaacs” as it were.
In this place you have faith that God will fulfill all His promises to you and your family including your children’s children. This faith that you have is the same faith that Abraham had in God and is only possible because of your acceptance of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.
“13Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed [is] every one that hangeth on a tree:14That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. ” (Gal 3:13-14 KJV)
“29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” (Gal 3:29 KJV).
When we study the life of the patriarchs of Israel, Abraham Isaac and Jacob, there was a similar pattern in that testing and waiting on God for his promises took what is humanly perceived to be a long time.
And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing” (Gen. 12:2 KJV).

Abraham and Sarah waited for years before they conceived the child of promise, Isaac. Abraham was 75 years old when God promised him that He would be the father of many nations, then fifteen years later, at the age of 90 God renewed his promise. When he was 100 years, they finally conceived Isaac. This is a total of 25 years for God’s promise to be made manifest (Genesis 12, 15-17). Isaac was the son through whom the promise of the nation of Israel would be born and through Israel (the tribe of Judah, one of the 12 sons of Jacob who together are the nation of Israel) Jesus Christ the incarnate Christ who is God in human form, would be born as the Saviour of the world, to reconcile man to God (2 Corinthian 5:19/John 3:16).
Waiting for a long time to give birth to twins, one of whom would have God’s covenant promise to Abraham, the blessings of the first born, was Isaac and his wife Rebecca’s fate. It was only in the 20th year of their marriage that they conceived their twins. Jacob had to labour for seven years for Rachel’s father before he could get married, not to the love of his life Rachel, but her sister as their father had deceived him. He obediently worked for her father for another seven years before he would allow Jacob to wed Rachel. Despite it taking 14 years before he married Rachel, his choice of a bride, it is just as well Jacob persevered, otherwise there would not have been 12 tribes! The “four square” prophetic number chosen by God to represent God’s people. If you are a child of God, know that nothing you do with the conviction that God is the source is in vain.
faith
Even waiting on God for children (Abraham and Isaac) and wives (Jacob) were in themselves tests because of the length of time it took. God was testing them as follows: Will they wait on God and not attempt to bring what God has promised to pass prematurely? In Abraham and Sarah’s case, they were impatient and Sarah gave her maid Hagar to Abraham so as to conceive a child with him. Abraham agreed and Ishmael was conceived (Gen.16).
If we take matters into our own hands and scheme something that looks like what God promised us, God will not accept that thing as a replacement of His promise. This is because the product of our works birthed out of our impatience with God is a mere counterfeit of the real and will cause problems. They are a means for Satan to afflict, accuse or condemn us. When Hagar was pregnant with Ishmael, Sarah had no peace and she was jealous of Hagar and complained of her to Abraham and sent her away. Hagar returned only to be sent away again after Ishmael’s birth.
Anything that is not birthed by God is contrary to God and His plans for us. Praise be to God that despite their disobedience, God brought to pass his promise of a son, Isaac to Abraham and Sarah. This promise was upheld because Abraham to whom God spoke this promise to first, as we ascertain from scripture believed God. God caused him to visualise his descendants as being as the sand on the seashore and stars in the sky (Gen 22:17). Sarah was the one who activated her doubt not only by laughter but when she was told but by offering Hagar to have a child with Abraham.
Brethren do not allow anyone to talk you out of what God has promised you by way of a prophetic promise or a vision or revelatory dream. If you believe what God is saying to you, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might and refuse to do anything that will bring you heartache in the process and interfere negatively with the outworking of the promises of God in your life.
We must refuse destruction or enticement by those who offer alternative schemes or plans however well meaning they may be as we wait on God for what He has for us. Even those who are close to us can be instruments of the enemy to attempt to abort our God given vision.
Brethren, an “Ishmael” may happen along the way, or we may gain a “Leah” due to being deceived or through our own character weaknesses, but as long as we remain steadfast and dependant on God however long it takes, we will attain the promises of God, not partially but completely for God says “my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11 KJV).

Promises of God – Psalm 1:1-3

Do you detest compromise with the World, but delight in the Word of God ?

If so God says you are

BLESSED:

As a tree planted by the rivers is
well watered
         and therefore
            has leaves that never wither
                                             and is fruitful,

so are you
filled with God’s Spirit “Living Waters”
                                    and are therefore
                                               spiritually healthy
                                                                     and fruitful.

WHATEVER YOU DO SHALL PROSPER.

Promises of God – Psalm 5:11-12

Do you love and trust God?

If you do, He calls you righteous and promises to defend you and with favour,
He will surround you as with a Shield.

“11But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. 12For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as [with] a shield” (Psalm 5:11-12 KJV).
